Reading books will be changed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. However, please make sure that they are in the book bag every day so that we can hear them read.
In order to encourage the children to reflect on their own learning and progress, they will be bringing home a letter on Friday afternoons detailing what they think they have achieved and what could have gone better. This is in the trial stage at the moment, so your feedback would be gratefully received. I hope you enjoy talking about this with your children!
Show and Tell is a valuable speaking and listening opportunity for young children. In Class 2, we have a Show and Tell session on a Friday afternoon and we encourage the children to bring in items that are directly related to our project or other learning that has taken place that week.
The children will be beginning to bring home spelling lists every Monday in preparation for a test the following Friday. The children will have opportunities to learn their words in class, but if you can help them to memorise their words at home, it would be much appreciated! The focus will be on words related to our sound of the week or topic words.

Having an old shirt or oversized t-shirt at school for messy activities would be very helpful.Thank you!
PE lessons take place on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Please bring your PE kit on Mondays, so that it is available all week in case our plans change. Thank you!
The children have been given spellings to learn for a test next Friday. This will be the routine. The double sided sheet should be completed and handed in by the following Wednesday. The sheet with the words printed in large boxes is for you to keep at home and perhaps display somewhere. You could even cut it up to use as flashcards. A few minutes each day tends to work better than last minute cramming. Words are grouped according to spelling patterns rather than by difficulty, so some weeks will seem harder than others. Thank you as always for your support!
