What Do The Committees Do?
As well as the main Governing Body half-termly meetings there are committee which meet regularly to discuss more specialised areas. What they do is detailed below.
THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
It is the responsibility of the Finance Committee to provide guidance and assistance to the Headteacher and the whole Governing Body in all matters relating to budgeting and finance. The members of this committee help to draw up the annual budget plan, regularly monitor income and expenditure of all funds and decide on the policy and procedures in place at the school to ensure good financial management. They also monitor the impact of spending decisions upon the educational achievement of the children and have a view on whether the school provides good value for money. The Finance Committee provides a report to the full Governing Body after each of its meetings.

THE TEACHING AND LEARNING COMMITTEE
The main objectives of the Teaching and Learning Committee are to consider matters related to pupils’ education and social well-being. We have to ensure that the school is meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum, and we are responsible for agreeing, in consultation with the Headteacher, achievement targets for pupils at the end of Key Stage 2. We review school policies related to the curriculum and monitor the standards that pupils achieve at all key stages. The committee reports back to the full governing body each term.

THE RESOURCES COMMITTEE
The priority of the committee is to ensure that the needs of the children and staff are met and the Head is supported in making strategic decisions about staffing. This school year the committee have discussed with the Headteacher staffing issues such as requests for changes in working hours, arrangements for maternity leave and been involved in appointing new staff and arrangements for retirement. The committee also monitors the upkeep on the school building and site and to ensure health and safety of all at the school. The committee are involved in budgeting for these purposes and monitoring aspects such as how much the school spends on gas, electricity and water. They also look at incident and injury logs for the school and make recommendations for improvements in the site of practices of the school. A recent example of this would be the fitting of the new gate entry system from The Dell.
