RHSE

'RHSE stands for 'Relationships, Health and Sex Education'.  At Trowse, we use the Norfolk RHSE Scheme to be the spine of the curriculum in this subject. It consists of lessons from reception to year 6, sequentially building up age-appropriate content in each of six key themes, as the years go by. The document below gives an overview of the objectives taught in each year group. Some lessons are not in accordance with the Norfolk scheme. These are where, through consultation with the community, we have changed it for something more relevant for our children.

Detail on individual lesson resources can be found on the specific year group RHSE pages- topic by topic.

If you are interested in talking further and want to find out more about our curriculum, phone the school office or e-mail to make an appointment.

How Can You Support RHSE at Home?

TALK:

  • To your children: Ask them about lessons at school.
  • Say what your views and values on sex and relationships are. Answer their questions.
  • To us: Especially if you have concerns.

LISTEN:

  • To your children, their questions and wishes.

You may wish to begin some conversations at home with your child.  If this is the case, books can offer a really good way to get started.  Here are some recommendations for you.
